WorldTour performance. The look that started it all.

The Classic edition of the P Zero Race TLR is the same tyre underneath — same SmartEVO compound, same SpeedCORE construction, same 120 TPI casing, same Made-in-Italy engineering. What changes is the sidewall: a natural tan rubber that sits alongside the black tread, referencing the handmade tubulars that professionals raced on for decades before tubeless road tyres existed. It's not just a colourway. For a lot of cyclists, it's the reason they choose a tyre.

The first road tubeless tyre made entirely in Italy. Pirelli didn't license a tubeless design or manufacture overseas. The P Zero Race TLR was engineered and produced at Pirelli's own facility near Milan — the same plant that has made competition tyres for over a century. The Classic edition brings that heritage to riders who want performance and aesthetics in equal measure.

Key features

Classic (tan) sidewall

The natural rubber-coloured sidewall that references decades of handmade road tubulars. Paired with the black tread of the P Zero Race TLR, it creates the contrast look that many cyclists actively seek out. Aesthetics that are part of cycling culture, not just a paint job.

SmartEVO compound

Pirelli's triple-polymer formulation developed alongside WorldTour teams. Optimised for low rolling resistance on smooth and rough tarmac, strong wet-weather grip, and the durability required over a full season of racing and training. The same compound as the all-black version — no performance trade-off for the Classic look.

SpeedCORE construction

Pirelli's patent-pending tubeless casing design. An aramid-infused inner rubber layer replaces the separate butyl liner found in most tubeless-ready tyres — reducing weight, improving air retention, and making the casing more supple at the same time. The P Zero Race TLR was engineered as tubeless-first, not converted from a clincher.

120 TPI casing

120 threads per inch puts this in the same territory as premium handmade tubulars. A fine, dense casing drapes over road surface irregularities rather than bouncing over them — lower rolling resistance, better feedback, and a more planted feel through corners. The casing you feel on the first ride.

Tubeless-ready — engineered from scratch

Run with sealant for the puncture resistance of tubeless with the low rolling resistance of a fast road tyre — or run with a tube for a traditional setup. The SpeedCORE inner layer eliminates the need for a separate tubeless liner, keeping weight low and the casing supple. Hooks and hookless rim compatible.

28, 30, and 32mm widths

Three widths from race-day lean to all-day endurance. Wider tyres run lower pressure for better grip and comfort — Pirelli's Pressure Tool (available on their website) gives a starting pressure recommendation based on your weight, wheel, and tyre width combination.

Classic or Black — which to choose?

Classic (this product)
Natural tan sidewall. Same compound, same casing, same performance as Black. Choose Classic for the aesthetic — it pairs well with tan bar tape, saddles, and the traditional road bike look.
Black
All-black sidewall. Same compound, same casing, same performance as Classic. Choose Black for a clean, modern look or when running carbon wheels where the full black finish suits the build.
