The tube Pirelli built to match their tyres.

Most inner tubes are an afterthought — a generic commodity rolled into a foil packet with a brand sticker on it. The Pirelli RoadTUBE is different. It was engineered alongside the P Zero Race TLR as one half of a complete road system, with the same attention to weight, material quality, and real-world performance that Pirelli brings to every product it puts its name on. At 85g with a 0.65mm wall, it's the tube you carry in your jersey pocket and barely notice until you need it.

A tyre brand that actually makes tubes. Pirelli's road racing heritage stretches back over 100 years, from the early days of the Tour de France through to today's WorldTour. The RoadTUBE brings that same compound discipline and performance obsession to the humble inner tube — premium butyl, done properly, not as an afterthought.

Key features

Removable Valve Core (RVC)

Unscrew the valve core to inject tubeless sealant without removing the tyre — handy when converting to tubeless mid-season or topping up sealant on a tubeless setup with a tube backup. Also lets you swap a damaged core on the road with a spare. A small feature that makes a real difference on long rides far from a bike shop.

Three valve lengths — aero wheel ready

The RoadTUBE is available in 48mm (alloy and shallow carbon), 60mm (mid-section carbon 35–50mm), and 80mm (deep-section aero 50mm+). Standard 48mm valves can't reach through a 60mm+ carbon rim — choosing the right valve length means you can always get a pump head on, whatever wheels you're running.

Premium butyl compound

Butyl holds pressure for days — no morning top-up required before a ride, unlike latex. It's also fully patchable in the field, unlike TPU tubes which are difficult or impossible to repair roadside. The RoadTUBE's 0.65mm wall is lighter than most standard butyl tubes without sacrificing the durability that matters on training rides.

Smooth Presta stem — protects your rim

The Presta valve stem has no external threads. On expensive carbon wheels, threaded valve stems can cause micro-cracking around the valve hole over time as the rough threads abrade the carbon or alloy during installation and removal. The smooth stem eliminates that wear entirely — it's a detail that matters most on high-end rims.

85g — lighter without compromise

At 85g claimed weight, the RoadTUBE is meaningfully lighter than a standard butyl tube (typically 100–120g) without going down to the fragile 50–60g territory of ultralight racing tubes. It's the right weight for a tube that lives in your back pocket — light enough to notice, durable enough to trust when you need it most.

Pairs with the P Zero Race TLR

Sized to fit 700c x 23–30mm, the RoadTUBE slots straight into the P Zero Race TLR casing. If you're already running P Zero Race tyres, this is the natural spare — same compound philosophy, same brand engineering, and the right size match for a fast roadside swap without hunting for a compatible tube at the start line.

Butyl vs latex vs TPU — which tube is right for you?

Butyl (RoadTUBE)
Best all-round choice. Holds pressure for days. Fully patchable. Heavier than latex/TPU but the most practical for training and long rides. The RoadTUBE's 0.65mm wall puts it at the lighter end of butyl.
Latex
Lower rolling resistance and supple feel. Loses 10–20 PSI overnight, so needs topping up before every ride. Difficult to patch. Best for race day when you're chasing every watt and have a support team.
TPU
Ultra-light (40–60g) and packs down tiny. Difficult to repair on the road — most riders carry them as a one-shot spare. More expensive per tube. Can be affected by heat in direct sun.

Choosing your valve length

48mm
Alloy wheels and carbon rims up to ~35mm depth. The standard choice for most training wheels and entry-level carbon.
60mm
Carbon wheels with 35–50mm rim depth. Covers the majority of popular mid-section aero wheels.
80mm
Deep-section aero wheels 50mm+ rim depth. If you're on 50, 60, or 80mm carbon rims, this is the valve length you need.

Not sure? Measure your rim's outer depth from the tyre bed to the brake track (or from bead seat to outer edge for hookless). Add 20mm to that number — if the total exceeds the valve length, go longer. Valve extenders are an option in a pinch but a properly sized valve is always cleaner and more reliable.
